You worked hard for the traffic.
Let's help more of it convert.

Getting people to your site is only half the job. Conversion rate optimization is about the other half — understanding why visitors leave without acting, and making steady, tested changes so more of the people already visiting turn into enquiries, signups and sales.

so more traffic actually converts

We were spending a lot to get people to the site and losing most of them at the checkout. Road to Top 5 actually watched how people used it, found the friction, and tested fixes one at a time. Our conversion rate climbed steadily without us touching ad spend.

What I liked is that they didn’t just redesign things on a hunch. Every change was backed by data or a test, so we knew what was working and why. It made the whole thing feel a lot less risky.

Karan Malhotra

Growth lead, SaaS

They were honest that CRO takes a bit of traffic and patience to do properly. They set the right expectations, and a few months in our signup rate was meaningfully better. Same visitors, more customers.

Why conversion optimization is
worth your attention.

Most businesses pour effort into getting more visitors and very little into what those visitors do once they arrive. CRO is about fixing that imbalance — and it’s often the cheapest growth you’ll find.

Why I think CRO is the most underrated growth work — and why patience matters.

Here's the uncomfortable truth I tell every B2B founder: your buyers have already made up their minds before they ever talk to your sales team. They research quietly — on Google, on LinkedIn, and increasingly by asking ChatGPT and Perplexity 'who are the best vendors for X'. If your name isn't in those answers, you're not even in the room.

B2B is different from B2C, and most agencies pretend it isn't. You're not selling to one person on impulse — you're convincing a group of customers over six to twelve months. The CFO wants ROI. The CTO wants security and a clean stack. Procurement wants three quotes and a comparison. The end user just wants it to work. Each of them searches differently, and each needs a page that answers them. That's what real B2B SEO is: not a pile of keywords, but a content engine for the whole buying journey.

And the surface has moved. Six in ten searches now end without a click. Your prospect reads the AI-synthesised answer and shortlists from it. The brands winning B2B in 2026 are the ones the model trusts enough to quote — by name, with attribution. That's not a 2015 backlink playbook. It's entity engineering, schema, comparison content and share-of-answer tracking.

That's exactly why we built Road to Top 5 for B2B. We're newer and hungrier, we ship every week, and we report the only metric your board cares about — pipeline. If your competitors are already being recommended by AI and you're not, that gap compounds every quarter. The cheapest time to fix it was last year. The next cheapest is now.

B2B SEO isn’t one thing — it’s a stack of jobs that have to work together. Here’s the actual work, grouped the way we run it. Pick a track to see what’s inside.

A calm, evidence-led approach —
run through a framework that's ours.

Good CRO isn’t about clever tricks or copying the latest ‘growth hack’. It’s about understanding your visitors, testing carefully and being honest about the results. We keep it grounded and run it through the same simple system we use everywhere.

CRO that works with your SEO, not against it

There’s no point winning more traffic and then losing it at the door. We connect CRO to the rest of your marketing, so the visitors your SEO and ads bring in are far more likely to become customers — the whole engine works better together.

Evidence

every meaningful change backed by data or a proper test, not a hunch

We test, we don't just redesign

It’s easy to change things and call it an improvement. We validate meaningful changes with real tests where the traffic allows, so you know what genuinely helped rather than hoping.

We watch how people actually behave

Beyond the numbers, we look at how real visitors move through your site — where they hesitate, misread or give up — so our ideas are grounded in behaviour, not opinion.

Talk to real people, including the founder

No dense reports full of jargon and no juniors running blind experiments on your revenue. You work with senior people who explain what they’re testing and why, and the founder stays close to your account.

STEP 01

Find the pipeline leaks

A 7-day deep audit across technical, content, entity and LLM-citation signals — scoped to your customers. We surface every leak draining demos: thin bottom-funnel pages, missing comparison content, crawl traps in gated resources, weak product schema.

STEP 02

Prioritise by revenue impact

Not every fix moves pipeline. We rank every opportunity by impact × effort × time-to-revenue — so the first sprint targets the bottom-funnel and comparison queries your sales team already knows convert.

D
STEP 03

Discover the questions buyers ask AI

Where are competitors invisible inside ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews for your category? We map the entity gaps, vendor-comparison prompts and RFQ-stage questions your customers are searching — and nobody owns yet.

STEP 04

Plan & execute, weekly

A 90-day roadmap with weekly shipping — technical fixes, pillar and solution pages, schema, internal linking and digital PR. You see commits, PRs and live changes every Friday, mapped to pipeline. No slidedeck quarters.

Straight answers on conversion
optimization.

The questions people actually ask us about CRO — answered plainly and honestly, without the hype the topic sometimes attracts.

Conversion rate optimization is the practice of getting more of your existing visitors to take the action you want — enquire, sign up or buy — by understanding where they drop off and testing improvements.

In simple terms, your conversion rate is the percentage of visitors who do the thing you want them to do. CRO is the work of steadily raising that percentage without necessarily getting more traffic. It works as a loop: first you study where and why people are leaving, using your analytics plus tools like session recordings and surveys. Then you form clear ideas about what might help, prioritise them, and test the changes — ideally comparing the new version against the old so you know the improvement is real. You keep what works, drop what doesn’t, and repeat. Over time those tested gains compound, so more of the same traffic turns into customers. The key is that good CRO is evidence-led — it’s about understanding your specific visitors and testing, not copying tricks from other sites.

You can often find quick wins in the first few weeks, but meaningful, reliable gains usually build over a few months of testing — it depends heavily on how much traffic you have.

There are two timelines. Early on, an audit often surfaces some obvious friction — a confusing form, a broken step on mobile, an unclear headline — that can be fixed quickly for an early lift. But the bigger, more reliable gains come from proper testing, and testing takes time: a test needs to run long enough, with enough visitors, to trust the result. If you have a lot of traffic, that might be a couple of weeks per test; if you have less, it can take longer, and we’ll be honest with you about that. Realistically, most clients see meaningful, compounding improvement over three to six months of steady work. Anyone promising to double your conversions overnight is guessing — real CRO is patient, and that patience is exactly what makes the results trustworthy.

It’s a loop: research where visitors drop off, form ideas about why, prioritise and test the most promising fixes, then measure honestly and repeat.

A solid CRO process usually runs in stages. First, research — digging into your analytics to find where people leave, and using recordings, heatmaps and surveys to understand why. Second, turning those findings into clear, specific ideas worth testing, then prioritising them by likely impact and effort. Third, testing — running proper experiments (like A/B tests) where your traffic allows, so you can be confident a change genuinely helped rather than trusting a hunch. Fourth, measuring the results honestly and keeping what works. Then the loop repeats, with each test teaching you something that sharpens the next. The whole point of running it as a disciplined process, rather than a one-off redesign, is that it lowers risk and compounds — you’re always building on what you’ve learned instead of guessing.

SEO and ads bring visitors to your site; CRO improves what happens once they’re there. They work best together — CRO helps you get more value from the traffic your SEO and ads earn.

It helps to think of them as different parts of the same engine. SEO and paid ads are about attracting visitors — getting more of the right people to show up. CRO is about conversion — making sure more of those visitors actually do something once they arrive. That’s why they complement each other so well: there’s little point spending more to bring in traffic if most of it leaves at the door, and equally, CRO gives you more customers from every visitor your SEO and ads already earn. In fact CRO often has a faster payback than chasing more traffic, because you’re improving results from visitors you’ve already got rather than paying to find new ones. We treat CRO as part of the whole picture, connected to your SEO, so the traffic you win actually converts.

More traffic makes formal A/B testing faster and more reliable, but even lower-traffic sites benefit from CRO — we just adapt the approach to be honest about what the data can prove.

Traffic matters because statistical testing needs a reasonable number of visitors to reach a trustworthy result — with very little traffic, an A/B test can take a long time or never reach confidence. But that doesn’t mean lower-traffic sites can’t benefit; it means the approach has to be honest. For smaller sites we lean more on clear-cut fixes (removing obvious friction, fixing broken steps, clarifying messaging), on watching real behaviour, and on before-and-after measurement, rather than pretending weak data is conclusive. For higher-traffic sites, we can run more formal, frequent A/B tests and move faster. Either way, the worst thing to do is draw big conclusions from tiny samples — so part of our job is being straight with you about what your traffic can and can’t prove.

Primarily by your conversion rate and the actual number of conversions — but always against trustworthy tracking, and read honestly rather than cherry-picked.

The headline measure is your conversion rate: the share of visitors taking the action that matters, whether that’s a purchase, a signup or an enquiry. Alongside that we look at the raw number of conversions and, where possible, the revenue or leads they represent, because a rate means little without the business outcome behind it. But there’s a crucial first step people often skip: making sure your tracking is actually accurate, so the numbers you’re judging are real. We also read results properly — letting tests run long enough to trust them, and being honest when something didn’t work rather than hunting for a flattering metric. And we report all of it plainly: what we tested, what won, what didn’t, and what it means. Success in CRO is measurable, but only if the measurement itself is trustworthy.

Anything that might affect whether a visitor converts — from headlines, page layout and calls to action to forms, checkout flows and trust signals.

The range is wide, which is why prioritisation matters. Common things we test include messaging and headlines (making it instantly clear what you offer and why it’s for them), the clarity and placement of calls to action, page layout and what visitors see first, and the trust and reassurance that answer people’s doubts. On forms and checkouts — often where the biggest wins hide — we test reducing fields, simplifying steps and removing friction like surprise costs or forced account creation. We might also test images, social proof, pricing presentation and mobile experience. The point isn’t to test everything at once, though; it’s to let the research tell us which of these is most likely holding your visitors back, and test those first. Every test ties back to a specific reason we think it’ll help.

It can start as a one-off audit, but CRO delivers the most as an ongoing effort — because each test teaches you something that improves the next, and gains compound over time.

You can absolutely begin with a one-time audit, and that’s often a sensible way to start: it surfaces the biggest opportunities and some quick wins without a long commitment. But CRO’s real strength is as a continuous loop rather than a single project. Every test — even one that fails — teaches you something about your visitors, and that learning sharpens the next idea. Over months, those tested improvements stack up in a way a single burst of changes never could. Markets shift, your traffic changes, and new pages get added, so there’s usually always something worth improving. That’s why most clients start with an audit and then move into an ongoing programme once they see the value. We’re happy to do either, and we’ll be honest about which makes sense for where you are.

Pick one that leads with research and testing rather than opinion, is honest about traffic and timelines, and reports transparently on what worked and what didn’t.

The biggest warning sign is a service that wants to redesign things based on opinion or ‘best practices’ without studying your visitors or testing the changes — that’s guessing dressed up as expertise. A reliable CRO partner starts by understanding your data and behaviour, forms clear hypotheses, and validates meaningful changes with proper tests where your traffic allows. They should be honest about what your traffic can prove and how long results realistically take, rather than promising overnight miracles. Ask how they measure success, whether they’ll show you tests that failed (they should — it’s normal and useful), and whether senior people will actually work on your account. At Road to Top 5 we lead with evidence, test rather than gamble, connect CRO to the rest of your marketing, and report plainly — including when something didn’t work.
